C Squared: New & Improved

C Squared has moved!  The new and improved C Squared W can be found here.

We’ve moved back to Blogger and are sporting a gorgeous new design thanks to our talented friend, Katie.  She has mad skills!

Go check it out, and if you like what you see, please add yourself as a “Follower” and/or sign for an email subscription (Mom, that’s for you!) so it’s not too lonely over there.  We’ll consider it a housewarming gift!

C Squared. That's us! We're crazy, we know it and love it.

Merci beaucoup!

xoxo, C Squared

Have I ever told you how cool my little sisters are?  Well, they are really, amazingly cool!

Margaret is in her junior year at Sewanee: The University of the South where she is a history major.  She is currently spending her spring semester studying abroad in Rome, Italy.  She is loving it, and spent last weekend visiting friends in Nice, France for Carnival.  Pretty awesome!

Frannie graduated from Sewanee last May with a B.A. in Global and International Studies and a minor in Spanish.  Frannie spent her summer working at A BarA Ranch in Wyoming.  A few weeks ago, Frannie joined the U.S. Peace Corps as a Community Education Promoter in the South American country of Guyana.  She will spend the next two years there, and is jumping right in to her experience – eating chicken feet and taking bucket baths!  She is brave and so impressive!

In addition to being world travelers, they are also smart, hilarious, and very artistic.  Frannie has traveled to Ecuador, Haiti, and Honduras and is fluent in Spanish; Margaret speaks French and is learning Italian.  They both have awesome fashion senses, and I love to steal borrow their clothes and get fashion advice from them when I’m home.  They are also gorgeous and adventurous… be sure to check out their blogs (click on their names, above)!

So there you have it, the world traveling sisters, currently all living in three different countries.  Thanks, Mom, for passing along your adventurous streak to us!  Fun fact: my mom, Katrina, lived in Germany for two years after college.  She has some awesome stories!

Things We Love

  • Caribbean Vacations.  More specifically, our recent vacation to the tiny island of Canouan in the Grenadines.

  • Hotel upgrades from a beachfront room to a beachfront suite.  Yes, please.

  • The Jaden Sun, the “fast ferry,” that we took from St. Vincent to Canouan.  Fast, air conditioned and nicer than an airplane.
  • The fresh coconut water we just had with breakfast from the freshly picked jelly coconut our landlord just gave us.  Thank you, Mrs. Coll!

Pre-exam study zone.

  • Charlie’s hard work paying off and moving right along to semester 3, but not before a well-deserved break.
  • Relaxed Charlie.
  • My fabulous island friend, Katie, who designed this blog’s fabulous new header and created the awesome C Squared button at the bottom of the page.  Isn’t she talented?
  • Mail from friends and family.  We love emails and comments on our blog, too.  Thanks for making us feel so loved!  We love you, too!
  • Seeing our cutie pie little puppy this morning (the one we found a home for).  Her owner’s boyfriend lives next door, and she’s hanging out on the porch there this morning.  She is getting big and healthy and is still as sweet as ever.  Plus she has a new gigantic Rottweiler best friend and that makes me smile.
  • Doctors who help me treat my ringworm (not actually a worm).  (Even if they are grouchy and even if it requires getting 3 vials of blood drawn and tested to make sure that I don’t have liver or kidney problems so that I can take the very intense oral anti-fungal medicine.)

  •  The September issue of Town & Country Magazine called Sewanee “the new Hogwarts.”  I love Sewanee!  I love Hogwarts!  I love that Sewanee is the new Hogwarts!!!

  • Caribbean beer.  Each island brews their own.  Dominica: Kubuli.  Bahamas: Sands and Kalik.  St. Vincent and the Grenadines: Hairoun.
  • Hilarious people.  Last week I was walking down the road wearing as the friendly trash men were hard at work.  I happened to be wearing a bright green dress.  “Hello Green Lady,” one of the men said.   “How are you today?”  I responded, “I’m fine, thank you, how are you?”  The guy’s response was classic — he gave me a huge gappy smile and said, “Not as good as Green Lady.”  Goodbye trash men.  Goodbye Green Lady.

  • Living on the nature island of Dominica.  Where else do you get to spend an afternoon with your husband and friends doing stuff like this?

Stop it. I mean it!

I love following blogs. Home, cooking, crafting, remodeling, fashion, travel, friends . . . you write it and throw on some pictures, give me some good links and BOOM,  I’m hooked!  But here’s what I’m hating: TERRARIUMS.

I hate these.  And these.  And these!  Just found another… make them stop!

I HATE THEM!  In fact, I just read the following, “Terrariums are all the rage now.  They are quite easy to make yourself.”  Blah blah blah. I’m really wishing that the blogs I follow would just leave the moss and rocks outdoors where they belong.  What I’d like to do is throw up in your homemade terrarium.  How’s that for crafty?
